Thread OP

Hi everyone,

I just got into flower pressing and found these in Mountain View, CA, not too far from San Francisco. They look like they belong to the daisy/ dandelion family but can anyone identify them? Would be very thankful!

BTW the flower has already been pressed so apologies that it's not in it's "natural" state, but I guess that's part of the challenge!

Hmm, that looks similar but according to the usda.gov website, it's not native to CA. http://plants.usda.gov/core/pr...

Hard to tell in it's dried state, although if you send a plant for ID to your local extention and management agent, that's how they like it (dried).

Here's a site with pics of wildflowers, by color: http://researcharchive.calacad...

How many petals do the flowers have? Are those narrow thingies along the stem seed pods (siliques) or leaves? There may not be any particular reason to assume it
should actually be a native plant... Smiling

It reminds me of something in the cress family, if those circular things in the flower heads are seed capsules. The leaves are probably at the base of the plant, and what we're seeing is the flower stalk only.
