I ordered a true Adenium socotranum seedling from arid lands as an early birthday present to my self.

What is the difference.

It's a species of adenium from the island of socotra that grows very slowly.
Here is a pic of one that has got to be over a hundred years old.

Hahaha, have fun with it! But then I laugh because a friend sent me some socatranum seeds, almost to my dismay. One inch tall is a year's growth. Dr. Dimmit's plant was a scrawny three foot stick when it finally had one blossom, at EIGHT years of age! Hahahaha.

That photo might be of a much older plant than 100 years. Too bad they don't have growth rings so their age can be determined. Another haha at the length of my link below! Telling from the size of them you don't want to stand too close.

Many graft the True Socotranum onto an Arabicum or other root stock. Seems to be quite common nowadays.
I have quite a few seedlings I started 1yr. Ago and as Melissa stated, they are very slow.

I planted it in a soiless mix that is equal parts perlite,oil dry, and gran I grit.
How long should I wait before watering it? How often should I water it?

Will it do good as a house plant by a west window for now?
I was thinking after I move to my new apartment I'll get it a grow light.

I think give it about a week, as it acclimates and heals any disturbance on its roots. Then water away, directly on the media.

I usually wait for 4 days when I get new bare root plants, then water in lightly. Bare root come with no leaves or any fine feeder roots.
Yours has leaves. I would give it a light "fine mist", not a heavy spray of water in a few days. Not it hot sun. It can take some in throught it's leaves.

I agree. When it starts growing new leves, whenever that might be, yo can water a LOT, with the potting mix you used. Every other day. BUT the leaves must be growing actively.

I have a grafted supposed-to-be socotranum, but I am beginning to believe it's an omani. Hey, Jim! There are maybe fourteen different kinds of Adeniums.

With it I was thinking of using fish emulsion will that work good?

Fertilize when it is actively growing new leaves/stem. Close observation is the key. Socotranum is probably dormant most of the time, but I don't know that for sure.
