(Often referred to as mini Monstera.) Saw one of these in a movie once and have been fascinated & searching for one for years. Why are they never in stores? Does it outgrow a house like Monstera usually eventually does, or is it more of a vine that one can prune?

I once had this plant labeled Rhaphidophora something or other (can't remember what species name was on the tag) and it also had the common name listed as "Mini Monstera". I lost the plant in a winter freeze in 2010/2011. I was told on another forum that it was NOT a Rhaphidophora so I have no clue what the correct ID was. I have Monstera deliciosa and it sure looked like a miniature Monstera. This is an old photo of that plant back in 2008 or 2009:

Yes, that's the one that caught my eye, R. tetrasperma! (Will never admit how much time I spent finding that name.) I suspect there may be more out there than we think, probably almost always ID'd as M. deliciosa.

Since I posted this question, I've realized there are quite a few species (duh, listed here in the DB.) Can't find pics of most but none of the ones I've seen look anywhere near as exciting as 'mini Monstera.' Nobody seems to have most them, or pics of them, at least in the realm of English-language websites/forums/FB. On FB, I did find someone who has a different one with much smaller leaves, a diff species. Not anywhere near as exciting as R. tetrasperma. I didn't mention the species in my original question because it never occurred that anyone would have the even less common ones if the 'main' species is so rare. Could also be a case of most of them being ID'd as Philodendrons or other similar genera, or mistaken perception on my part.

SO sorry you lost that plant, Lin! TY so much for the pic. OMG, it was stunning, perfect!! So glad you at least have that fantastic pic. (Wish I had a pic of the rubber tree I lost about 7-8 yrs. ago, also to a cold accident.) Do you remember where you'd gotten it?

Tiffany, It was so long ago that I don't remember where I bought that plant but more than likely it was either Home Depot or Wal-Mart. I wonder why we never see them for sale anywhere nowadays? I think I read that they come from Thailand.

I see listed as currently out of stock here: http://www.blackjungleterrariu...

and I found it at the EA website listed as Mini Split Leaf: http://www.exoticangel.com/pla... I wonder if they will be selling it anywhere in the near future?

Lin, TY. I *am* starting to see some of these babies that folks are finding at BBS's. Your thinking that you found yours at one is encouraging too. I don't buy plants online, but will continue looking in person.

I'm pretty sure mine came from HD or WM, most likely Home Depot but that was awhile ago. I think I got that plant @ 2004 and lost it to a winter freeze in 2010.
