Ken, you are looking at 2 keikies as the mother plant died some years ago. The upper keiki is about 8 inches long and the lower one measures ca 4 inches. (The lower one had flowered previously too. )
The flowers are ca 1 cm across and 2 cm long with the little spur. They are unscented. This is one of the rare blue Orchid blooms! Smiling

A first time bloomer for me opening today, this is a NOID Miltassia that I got on our last foray to Apopka in April of 2013. I'm thrilled that it has bloomed at last and seems to have 3 more buds coming along. I'll bet Bud gets to shop for orchids in Apopka to his heart's content, since he's pretty close?

That would be great, Jim. I do recall when I was buying it and it had a fading bloom, you commented that it looked a lot like your lovely Aztec 'Toni' but I think it's not quite as red.

The other Miltassia that I got fairly recently at Trader Joe's also has a spike looking promising. I'm not counting my chickens just yet, though as this heat we've had seems to blast some buds.

Our sympathies on the 95deg. Ursula. Same here, today. Way too hot to do much outside except the occasional walk around with the camera . . . Whistling

I just came home from playing with the grandchildren, looked at the Orchids and watered and decided that the Habenaria medusa needs an update!

I love those unusual flowers, Ursula. You have a winner there, Elaine.

Oh, Jim. AOS said what I do is fine with them (showing the picture was sourced from AOA) and that if I would tell them the picture I want to post, they will tell me whether there is a photographer on file that I can show as well. The pictures apparently become the property of AOS when they are uploaded into their data-base.

AOS said putting a link to the picture won't work since I am a subscriber to AOS Orchids Plus, and a non-subscriber can't get access to any pictures in that data-base.

My advise about ignoring her is confirmed. I am glad you checked and can now feel better about the pictures.

Thanks, Jim! I'm now calling it 'Luke Skywalker' until otherwise informed.

May the force be with us and the orchid boffins leave the name alone.

I'm glad no one has lumped me in with the Orchid boffins yet. It sounds like a dreadful group. Hilarious!

Two new bloomers in the OC today. First is Bc. Binosa 'Key Lime' (B. nodosa x C. bicolor):

The other is Rlc. Golden Tang, a frequent bloomer for me.
