OK, here's my secret vice plant lust. I have this vision for a new garden that will be all things dark and weird. I want Harry Lauder's Walking stick (contorted hazel), black flowers, huge flowers, strange looking flowers (like spider daylilies...), weeping trees, creepy looking plants, carnivorous plants, toadstools, those daisies that look like eyeballs on sticks. *LOL* I'm slowly working my way toward that. So keep me in mind next time you see something and think "ewwwww...that's weird." LET ME KNOW ABOUT IT! *LOL*
I am not "country" I am "landed gentry."

Beautiful anemones and toad lilies, @AspenHill!

Annie, that sounds like it could be really cool--sort of like a Grimm's fairy tale. I have a Harry Lauder walking stick and I like it--although I have to say the leaves get *very* munched on by the bugs, so it must be tasty!

@AspenHill, oh my. What wonderful plants! The toad lily variety I saw the picture of is Samurai -- and even seeing all yours, it's still my favorite, I think, because of the contrast and dramatic colors.

That same list (I think) where I saw that, there was mention of a specific Japanese anemone that was a good bloomer in some way -- longer lasting or earlier start or more flowers, I forget which. It was one of the pink ones. The only kind I've known are white, so it's sweet to learn there are so many colors available.

Have you all looked at the prizes for the raffle? Specifically, the new one, the salvia nursery? Flowers By The Sea I think it's called, and they specialize in salvias but have some other things also.

I didn't know there were Japanese woodland salvias that like shade.... Next cash infusion I get I will be very tempted to buy from them, they look great.

I've been going to town with the co-ops on cubits.org!!! Bought lots of different hydrangeas, clematis (Omoshiro and Isago), echinaceas, heuchera and sedums. I also bought 4 tiny crape myrtles (noid because of lost tags) from an ebay seller who has sold me GREAT plants in the past. 1.55 @ with combined shipping for a beautiful climbing rose also.

*weeps*

Green Grin! Roses, that all sounds wonderful. I seriously have to pace myself, though, and it is Not. Fun.

But yes, I do believe I am going to be getting at least three of those lovely sempervivums I keep gazing at. The nice little local garden center has had some brilliantly colored acrylic pots on sale for ages, and if they still have those I'm going to grab a few on Friday and plant them up. They are scary cheap. Apparently nobody wanted them. Or they fell off a truck.... Whistling

Yesterday I ordered three more Japanese Anemone and three Toad Lilies. My garden center gal was so flustered because the phone number I had given her didn't work for her -- I think she must have called me during one period of time when I ran out of minutes! *Blush*

She wasn't able to get the kind of anemone I specifically wanted but I told her it was okay, I'd take three of what she can get. I love the simple white ones, in fact. And the Toad Lilies, she thought she could get the "Samurai" variety I had wanted.

So, yay!

Thumbs up Kyla.

I've been trying to find availability of Anemone Fantasy™ Pocahontas, but so far I'm coming up blank. Sad Oh well, perhaps I'll remember to look again come springtime.

Roses and Kyla, so glad you're finding some nice things!

Chelle, Pocahontas is sure pretty! It's a hard time of year to find things. I have a 'wishlist' I keep in my plants excel database. It always helps me feel better to know I've written something down on my wishlist instead of trying to remember it! Big Grin

By the way, I picked up a lot of extra bulbs at the swap a couple weeks ago, particularly 'Double Dutch Mixture' from ADR. http://www.adrbulbs.com/plantn...

I have about 50 of these bulbs and no room to plant them! I'm looking for homes for about 40 of them. Anyone interested? Happy to share them at no cost. :-)

Let me know!

I'd be happy to take some off your hands. They're lovely! Here, I have dug up and replanted bulbs that I encountered while doing my other projects, but no idea what will survive my manhandling.
