Thread OP

Very nice hawk moth I found on my lawn in Loveland, Colorado, but inspection of a page on "Hawk / Sphinx Moths of Colorado" doesn't give me a match. Any clues? Thanks in advance.

We have this one in Sacramento and others also. Found this one sleeping in the Arctotis. Hawk Moth or Sphinx Moth are the typical common name. There are however Hummingbird Moths. You can see why in this photo. There are videos on the web of them that are quite captivating. The caterpillar I found this week was chowing down on leave of Brugmansia.

see them quite regularly on my agastaches.

Took these shots "blind" as I didn't have the porch light on & was just flashing my phone camera around. These moths are quite tame I've found.
