How variable are blueberry genetics?
If I collect seeds from a southern high bush or rabbit eye commercial cultivar how similar will the new seedling be compared to the mother plant?

Why not take divisions, or make airlayers, instead of by seed?

well i recently joined a hunting club of about 6000 acres. I spent yesterday helping to clear the many roads on the property. The permie in me was was thinking man look at all these edges. So why not try and take a section of road and plant a TON of blueberry bushes along it so the hunters and animals all get free blueberries.

I'm also trying to talk my friend into bordering the many food plots with fruit trees and other perennial fonder. To me the better your wildlife is feed year round the more their will be and the better the hunting season.

It seemed if you want close to 1000 blueberry bushes seeding was the way to go.

Blueberries, like most plants with fleshy berries, germinate best after passing through the gut of an animal. Failing that, you might need to treat them with gibberellic acid to get decent germination.
