How does a seed company 'accidentally' send something? Yikes.

That being said, oh, I like the one called Bergamo/Monarda Citriodora-Hybrid. That would look good in my garden.

I ordered some other seeds from them, and they inadvertently included what I assume was someone else's order. I contacted them to let them know, but never heard back from them. Heh, so I kept the seeds.

The Piggy Swap is great fun and works for all three main kinds of seed collectors: those who want to try a wider variety of "ordinary" varieties, and those with specific interests in unusual and less common varieties.

The third kind of seed collector wants to share their wealth of saved seeds with other generous seed heads.

And you get to pick and choose exactly what you want from many long lists.

And many people read other people's Wish Lists with a magnifying glass, then dig through their own stash to see if they can "make your day".

I've grown the "bergamo" one from seeds. They were pretty. So, as Woofie said, some can be seed grown, even if not JC

I've grown Monarda Citriodora (not the hybrid) from seed, and it is a beautiful plant. Mine is still blooming now....lots of beautiful late season color, and really easy to grow from seed.

I have a seed started monarda that I thought was citriodora, but it must not be; it's been growing along undisturbed for two years now, so it can't be a annual. No blooms yet that I've seen, so it's still an unknown.

When I look on the internet half the people say this plant is sterile/will not set seeds and other other half say it re-seeds like crazy.

Which bee balms will make viable seeds and which will not?

Hmmm, well, I have collected seed from my bee balm but as of yet, have not tested germination. I will do that and try and let you know.

Bee balm can be started from seeds. I was just saying Jacob Cline may be sterile. It is much easier to start them from shovel pruning.

I save a few seeds but would love to trade plants for seeds too. Is this the best forum to post a wish list?

I have saved the seeds from a couple of these Atlantic Giants.

You can feel free to post here too, but your best best would be the trading forum: The seed forum is more specific to the limited number of people who grow things from seed, but everybody at ATP grows something.

During the winter I look thru all the seed catalogs and just want to plant EVERYTHING! lol. It is chilly here today.

Looking at seed catalogs in the winter is dangerous. That's how I ended up with a whole bunch of seeds that I looked at in the spring and said "Whaaaaa????"

I hope this isn't to off the saving seed subject but what companies do you usually use for flowers and veggies?

I think there was another thread where people were discussing their favorite seed vendors, but I can't find it. I like Swallowtail and Diane's myself. And Parks is not bad, if you're just ordering seeds.

I also am a regular of Swallowtail and Diane's. But also Summer Hill Seeds and Harris

I use all of those, too. I'm not fond of Parks or T&M though.

Actually, now I get most of my variety of seeds by joining the annual "Hog Wild Piggy Swap".

When I buy commercial seeds, I usually get a bigger packet than I need, and split it into three to twenty smaller, trade-size packets. I enjoy the measuring and labeling. Then I offer the "extras" in the HWP Swap and ask for other people's offerings.
