I found a Black Diamond (Ebony Flame) a couple of months ago at Home Depot. First time I've ever seen it for sale here in Central Florida though I learned that it has been around for a few years. Mine is doing well and doesn't seem to be affected by our salty air. When I bought it, the plant had a few blooms (magenta color). When they finished and the seed balls formed, I clipped them off a few stems and they are blooming again.

I have had little plants grow from the sees pods, which really is the "fruit". But I've always given them away at Garden club's so I don't know if the plant is true to the parent, regarding flower color. The fruit is a capsule, green at first, then ripening to dark brown or black. It splits and releases numerous, small, winged seeds. If you cut these off, removing part of the stem (not too much), you will get a second bloom.

Ann, I'm confused about half the time these days. Just kidding ... but sometimes it seems like it.

Thanks for the info, Elfie.
I garden for the pollinators.

I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
