After watching the sedum bloom I'm guessing it is Sedum Album. Can anyone confirm this for me. *Blush*

Thank you for your input. It does hold up well to very dry conditions like we had this summer but also can take our bitter cold winters. I wish I could hold up so well!

This is really one tough sedum. This photo was taken on the cement bridge that goes over the creek in out back yard. It does not get any water in the summer months of July, August and now Sept. This has been a very dry summer for us this year.

We are down 6" of rain this summer and my soil is starting to look more like dust. I've been concerned about the water shortage in your area as my daughter has moved to Tempe AZ and has experienced her first dust storm? I never thought about things like that before. National Geographic has a beautiful article this month about the drought in the west. After reading the article I won't be complaining about a few inches shortfall. Hopefully the weather will turn around soon. Your right, my sedums are really happy this year.

I am going to have to get Sedum album. I really have trouble getting sedums to overwinter for me.
Agree the weather is strange this year.
Lynn that sedum must be growing with almost no "soil" on the cement bridge?

Marilyn, there is no soil on the bridge. But that sedum sure seems to love whatever is in cement that feeds it. It grows better there than in the beds with soil. Shrug!

Hope that doesn't mean the bridge will collapse some day because the sedum ate it. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

It will take them a very long time, it is a very thick cement bridge. Green Grin!

Sounds like they prefer a more neutral to alkaline environment. If they have been growing there for a long time they have made their own soil from parts that have died off over time. That is my observation from that sedum growing in the old fountain base. A self-made little ecosystem there...

Now I may to rethink how I have my Sedum album planted. Maybe I can find some broken concrete somewhere. Right now it is in a container of loamy type soil.
