My Kindle does not had have a camera, maybe I should have bought the better model Rolling my eyes. Shrug!

On the banner forum the question about a camera was posed. I am hoping Calif_Sue will give some good advise there and I will try to share it.

Calif_Sue said:I have a Canon XTi. I have the size quality set to 3888x2592, the largest setting before raw so if the focus is nice and crisp on the subject, it should crop down nicely. If you have it set too small to begin with, you won't get crisp shots to work with.

About her banner photo for 9 18 2014 she said when asked how she got the shot.

Calif_Sue said:for this shot I set it the macro setting and focus on one bloom. Green Grin!

I agree , good advice. I'll have to see if that will somehow work when taking a picture of a plant in a jeweler's loupe... Or maybe we're trying to do more than can be done with the equipment... MR

MR, I have used a magnifying lens many times to get a better close up. I used to do it years ago with a Chinon, it worked quite well on really small blooms.

Ursula, how did you keep both the lens and the camera steady? Do you have a companion, or did you have some sort of equipment as extra pairs of hands? MR

I simply held the magnifying lens in front of the camera with my left hand, tight but not too tight, that the Autofocus can still do its thing. Camera in right hand, finger on "trigger". It worked surprisingly well.

I'm too tired tonight, Ursula, but tomorrow some of my semps are coming in and having a photo-shoot! Thank you for explaining that.

I'd like to learn how to get beyond autofocus, also, although maybe that's just not possible using magnifiers instead of extra camera lenses. Have you ever used the portrait setting with the tulip (macro)?

Well, I'm doing my best to read and make sense of the manual, here too. One step at a time! MR
