Those are really pretty Tom. I especially like the subtle blues of Cascadian Skies. I was curious to see more so I looked it up on the AIS Iris Wiki and was surprised to see they don't have photos of it. I don't know the process but maybe you could share your photos?

Style Traveler is nice Mary Ann, I got that from Tempo Two as a bonus.
Marilyn, Cascadian Skies is one of the older ones, but I still like it.

I've enjoyed this thread, blues being favorites of mine, and it happened as I've been on a quest for new blues to add to an area of the garden recently expanded. Following is the list of blues added this summer, and I'd love to know what those of you who are growing them think of them.

Baja Blue
Captain's Choice
City Lights
Blueberry Bliss
Double Bubble
Diamond Lake
Fabuleux
Jordan's Joy
Mohr Pretender
Open Sea

The only one of those that I have is Open Sea. Just got it last year and it didn't bloom this spring -- so I can't help you at all. Shrug!

Oh, I realize I missed one, Into the Blue, which by the way, looks to be extra vigorous. It already has 5 new fans developing!

Your Open Sea is gorgeous!

I just have (or had) three of those.

Double Bubble is a lovely iris that grows pretty well here. It was one of the earlier truly heavily ruffled types ("bubble ruffled" is the term used in the database).

Blueberry Bliss is one of the very few iris where I felt ripped off (disappointed occasionally yes, ripped off no) after seeing it bloom in my garden. In spite of the picture in the catalog and the description in the AIS registry, it's not blue. Not even close really. It's an excellent grower, I'll give it that, and it's a pleasant shade of violet if you are looking for a violet iris.

Jordan's Joy, on the other hand, is far more beautiful than its catalog picture. Actually, no pictures I've seen really capture just how pretty it is. One of my favorites. Also a good grower here.

Edited to say I have Into the Blue, too. I wouldn't rate it as highly as some of the others in Schreiner's line of light blue irises, but it's a very nice one. Grows very well. Most Schreiner iris grow well here for whatever reason.

We don't grow any of those iris. A new light blue is 'Absolute Treasure' (Tasco). It is tall (42") which is why I admire it in other gardens. I really don't care for stems over 36" What else would you expect from a median person who is also short?
