Hey Terese! Yes, I am so looking forward to WSing. Yes, I have a few inside projects to keep me focused right now. By January I will be ready to go! What are you planning to WS this year?

Cheryl, so sorry for the loss of your daughter back in April. I think a memorial garden is a lovely idea. No place like a garden for quiet time to remember a loved one. I checked out your blog and you have some nice information there. I especially like that you are not on a diet but have lost weight by eating healthy...I feel inspired to try swapping some of my food choices for healthier ones. Smiling

Hi everyone!!! So nice to meet you all!!

Sorry to hear of your losses -- hugs to you all Group hug

And you all made me laugh about the name thing. What I meant is that I couldn't think of a good user ID like all of yours, so I just used my name and the numbers from my address.... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing I like my real name but the user ID I have is not creative at all!

Hi everyone! My name is Chris (yes, I'm a Christine too!) and I met alot of TERRIFIC gardeners at the last G.I.G. this past summer when Arlene and her sweetie hubby had it at their place. I was a newbie and have never felt so welcomed as they (and everyone else!) made me feel. The Kaleidoscope Factory was amazing and I fell in love with Leonard, the owner who is a double for Santa! I'm really excited about the next gathering being in Boone for a couple of reasons..one, the train Smiling and the other is cause I'm so close now!

Anyway, I moved back here to Iowa a year ago after my husband passed away (April 09) to be near my kids and grandkids..I was living in Burlington in the SE corner, but I have now taken a new job and live in Des Moines..I love it here in the city, but sure miss being able to garden :(

I live in an upstairs apartment, so I'm restricted to indoor plants..but at least now I have a 9 ft balcony and may try some container gardening this coming spring. I have a terrific view to make up for living in an apartment though.. check it out!

Well I've got my containers ready, my seeds ready and I'm itching to wintersow but it's too early. I couldn't believe how warm it got today and then it poured. I know winter is around the corner.

My little hens, one may be a rooster, are all set up. I have a heat lamp and a heated bowl. This time last year I was freezing while I was setting it up. If the one bird is a rooster, I will be dropping him off on a farm in Kentucky because no roos allowed in Chicago. I can have hens and believe it or not, we can have a goat. I don't have one but if I wanted one, I could have one LOL.

Seems like the summer just flew by and now Thanksgiving is here - hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.

Rose, I'm your neighbor in Indiana! its not usually as cold here as it is in Chicago. We got much needed rain yasterday.

I'm with you, I cannot wait to start winter sowing. I have been focusing on perenniels but this year I would like to put out more annuals (Summer Poinsettas, Celosia). Do you use milk jugs and two liters?

Hi, I'm Angie, and Arlene just pointed me to this cubit. Good to meet some other midwesterners! I'm in central Illinois, and I enjoy both vegetable and flower gardening. It seems I develop a new obsession every few years. There was the year of the iris, the year(s) of the daylilies, the year of the lily, the year of wintersowing (to my DH's great dismay), the unfortunate year of the tulips (how heartbroken when they never came back!), the years of the hydrangeas (still kind of lingering in this obsession), the year of the non-bell peppers, and definitely several years of heirloom tomatoes!

Glad to hear there will still be the annual get-togethers. I attended a couple back when they were Round-Ups, and am glad to see so many familiar faces still involved. Boone sounds like a grand place to hold it, and I am thrilled at the opportunity to go see Reiman Gardens again. It is so impressive!

Hi ,
Now that the garden is sleeping for the winter there is more time to be inside.
So glad to have found this cubit Smiling

I currently live in Indiana on about 7 acres. About one acre around the house holds the gardens.
I've been gardening at this location for 14+ years, just about a little bit of everything. Herbs & perennials are my favorite.
