Thus far, I have one bloom; waiting on the others in another location to bloom...it's been raining since yesterday, so hopefully they will pop up soon.

Just beautiful. Mine are still in the pots from when I moved them from Austin back in March. I was waiting to see if I might get some blooms, before planting them in the garden. I do have one blooming now. Since they don't like to be moved, I'm happy with anything I get. I'm thinking about putting them around the crape myrtle, since it loses its leaves in the fall and leafs out a little later in the spring.

Hurray! Gold is even better and more rare/exotic. I'd take it anytime.

I'd like to try the yellow ones. I'll add them to my list of plants to watch for. We made a long car trip from Missouri to Texas yesterday and I saw lots of red spider lilies. They were very easy to spot from the car.

Sondra I've seen a few around town for the past two weeks but they're in older neighborhoods. You never see them in the newer neighborhoods around here. The yellow ones are more tender but the leaves are thicker than the red ones. Thumbs up

The red ones I saw where at older homes. Some didn't look like they had had much attention paid to them. They've probably been there for years. I think because the bulbs aren't readily available at the big box stores and are expensive when you do find them at a nursery , they are not being being planted in the newer subdivisions. I really enjoy giving some of my heirloom bulbs to interested young gardeners. It makes me think I'm doing my part to keep them going.

I've seen the prices online and they're definitely expensive. I got my red ones from a local gardener. She got hers from her daughter in Mississippi. I'm hoping they bloom in the next few years. Thumbs up

I dug up one area where these are planted (they didn't bloom!😠) but wasn't expecting so many bulbs. I was slicing many as I was digging - they have been in ground for over 5 years.

I'm willing to trade for other bulbs.

Wow that's a lot of bulbs Betsy! I sliced through two of my gold ones when I moved them last week. I nearly cried lol. Here are some pictures of a second gold one that bloomed.

Cameron, I had a most pleasant surprise - two yellow ones bloomed! They were marked as daffodils; must have traded for them. I was a little confused when stalks came up Confused

I had only one red bloom which is quite disappointing - last year several bloomed, but with all those bulbs - you would think much more would have bloomed.

I have many of the red lycoris and just bought 16 of the aurea. What are y'alls feeling on mixing the bulbs together or should I keep them separate but in close proximity? I'm divided on the issue. Shrug!

Ooh, I bet that would look pretty. It's hard to find the yellow ones for sale locally. The red ones naturalize here in other people's yards. Grumbling I believe the squirrels steal by bulbs every time I plant them in the ground. One year I planted some miscellaneous bulbs in a large pot during the fall. The following spring, I found mysterious holes in the pot. Confused I decided not to dig into it, but wait to see what would sprout. Nada ....... Angry I wonder if squirrels could have done that? I'm really Confused

I have a lot of pots and squirrels here take bulbs out of them all the time. They bury their pecans in them, too. Glare Shrug!
