SMG who has amazing plants is having a sale 5 for $10 on his choice of aloes (but there are only a few to choose from right now - so likely it'd be one! Just in case here's the link (he has really healthy and good plants!) although aloe are pretty easy either way (usually)

Greg,
Wow, that's a nice price! Although, I'm not convinced his 'Lizard Lips' is a 'Lizard Lips.' Hilarious!

But, all of his Aloes look very nice! I think I'm going to keep what I currently have, see how well they fare, and then comsider adding onto my collection next year.

Did you place an order yet? Rolling on the floor laughing

Planto, I keep snipping & sticking pieces of my 'Firesticks' plant(s) into more and more pots. It just looks so cool sticking up over/around/through other plants, without blocking the light. Wondering when some of the older stems will start to lignify... So irritating to bring them in yesterday, at their most colorful!

(Can't mention snipping into Euphorbias without warning about the latex sap! Sends people to the ER if it gets in eyes, can cause a horrible rash like poison ivy on the skin of the unfortunate folks who are sensitive to it. Simply avoiding getting it on you is always a good plan. Wash well and quickly with cool (not hot water) if you do.)

TY, Greg!

I don't feel that mine is large enough to want to snip yet, but they do look so cool (especially in full color).

I've never had an issue with the sap (although, I'm careful not to get it on my skin). My Mother had an 'African Milk Tree' and developed a blister on her arm from the sap. I'll say to beware of 'Pregnant Onions' though. Not related to Euphorbias as far as I know, but I snipped part of a leaf off one day, got some sap on my arm, and within minutes, that part of my arm was red and burning! Sad

That's understandable, sorry if it sounded like I was saying I though you should follow suit, just babbling. Hopefully it's encouraging though, if you're in the mood for a fast grower. Mine looked nearly identical to yours when I got it, spring of '13. By now, it's been shared with several people, and is lurking in probably 6, maybe 8 pots. As soon as it got big enough, I started spreading it around. No doubt they make quite a statement when left alone to get bigger. I think I only prolonged that by a year at most, but end result will be several, not just 1. Not everyone wants to go hacking into a plant that might give them a horrible rash just so they can have more copies of it. That's probably actually kind of disturbed? Maybe we should just keep this to ourselves...

If you haven't gotten the sap on your skin, the potential to have a problem has not yet existed. This is good. Latex is in so many other plants besides Ephorbias. If you see colored sap in a plant, suspecting it might be latex and taking appropriate precautions is a smart reaction.

You're right, there are other irritating alkaloids besides latex that can cause skin rashes. Albuca plants (preg. onion) contain calcium oxalate crystals, as do many common house plants such as Aroid & Commelinaceae families. That stuff gives me a rash too. (Between latex and CO crystals, I'm allergic to the sap in most of my plants.) Hope to help others avoid!

Tiff,
Oh no, I didn't mean it that way. You mentioning that you had propagated yours reminded me that I was planning on it one of these days (when I have enough to propagate with Hilarious! ).

I don't believe any of my plants have a colored sap (maybe my Peperomias?), but that is good advise to follow.

I didn't know that about Aroids though, I have a couple of those... better watch out in that case.

OK, cool, same page ;) I know I probably sound paranoid, just trying to help folks avoid getting 'mystery poison ivy' like I did so many times before realizing... it was coming from inside the house! Aaaaahhh! How's that for a scary Halloween tale? LOL

Took some new pics of stuff that just came inside today. Here are some of the more colorful groups...

Haha, I don't word myself the best sometimes. Whistling

I understand. I don't think you sound overly paranoid. I know my Mother didn't know where the blister came from at first. You'd never think your beloved plants would retaliate against you.

What's that large Aloe in your first picture? I just love the variegated 'Rubber Tree.' You know, I haven't seen one of those in a long time. What's the large succulent in your last picture?

On a completely different note, did it seem like there were less houseplants this year in BBS, or was it just me? All three of our Lowes have half the selection they did last year. On top of that, most of their plants are large hanging baskets (the $15 ones) or large plants in general (the ones that cost like $20 up). Kinda sad really. I'm not sure if Costa Farms taking over EA is going to effect what plants are around also. Those $20+ plants are Costa Farm plants.

Planto, I think you are right about there being fewer selections to choose from the houseplant section especially at Lowe's. It's been disappointing. EA offered a much larger variety of plants.

My Lowes had a lot of houseplants but the usual nothing new like EA would sell Lowes. I as saw 5 different Crotons. I cannot keep those alive in the winter so for the price I do not buy those anymore. Lots and Lots of Orchids and Bromelaids. Like Purple said big plants. Not the little 4.98 plants that you could try and see if you like them.

I definitely see a lot less smaller plants. I don't care too much if I kill a $3 plant, but $10 or $15? I just might cry. Hilarious!

Sorry, no idea.

"What's the large succulent in your last picture?"
Lavender Steps (Senecio crassissimus)

TY, Greg!

I don't shop for house plants often enough to get into that part of the discussion... Usually have everything they sell that I want anyway. (Only a few BBS's nearby for plant-shopping. The nearest mom'n'pop is almost 2 hours away.)

Tiff,
It's okay. I like it. Drooling That's an interesting Senecio, I don't really see many Senecio succulents around here. 'Chalk Sticks,' but that's about it.

I think that is also becoming my issue... I've either tried, still have, or don't care to purchase everything they sell around here. But, the amount of plants is less too so that also stinks.

I'm pretty sure I picked that up at WM. Only ever seen it there once. They get shipments from cactuscollection.com sometimes, but never a steady selection. Have to happen to get there before they get beat-up, neglected.

Can't convince my camera to get a clear shot of a flower looking straight at it, but here's updates on Sedeveria 'Sorrento' I showed up-thread.
