I have a large leaf mystery plant that looks like the one Bubbles has with red drop flowers--only mine seems to have very small white flowers. Please advise. Thanks! Carol

Is it the plant that is my avatar? If so, the leaves are not part of the flowers. The flower stalk is Russelia rotundifolia, peeking out of American Beautyberry leaves. Sorry for the confusion. And welcome to ATP!

The Beautyberry leaves look like mine. I will begin my search from there. Many thanks!

Can you post a photo of your plant with the leaves and flowers? Thanks and Welcome!

Carol, are the blooms like these? And they come off the stem like these?

Yes, but the flowers are much smaller. I had purchased an orchid from a grower (don't remember who) and about 2 months later this now more than 4-foot plant with large leaves emerged. I am working on getting a photo.

There is a white Beautyberry. I bought one in spring, but I can't find it and think the drought is to blame.

Not beautyberry or pokeweed. See if Amaranthus palmeri fits.
