Tiffany had asked in an earlier post if these came up from seeds. Well, today I went to pull a few weeds from the mulch and found this seedling. I think from its size it is probably a survivor from the batch that came up in this area last year. At least none were this large going into fall. If that's the case, then this one survived many below freezing hours of temp with the lowest being a few hours at 12F. I don't see any others and there were probably 60-70 little ones in this area last fall. The seeds came from the container of Ledbouria socialis I had hanging above the area. L. socialis blooms heavily every year and is a bee favorite. If this one is not a survivor from last year, then it is from a seed that waited 'til early this year to sprout. I don't think so, though.
