I cannot ID this rose. I nursed it back to health, then had to move it and finally this year it bloomed. It is a one time bloomer and it doesn't seem to get black spot either. Can anyone point me in the right direction for an ID.

It looks a lot like Dr. Huey, commonly used as the rootstock for grafted roses. It survives when the grafted rose dies and is therefore a familiar (although unwelcome) sight in many gardens.

It's a once-blooming climber with very few thorns and it is resistant to black spot, but it can suffer from powdery mildew. I personally like it, but many people regard it as a sign of failure and consequently have no affection for it.

I thought the bloom looked like Dr Huey, but the twining new growth did not - at least that is not something I have seen from any of mine.

Hey! a hardy rose without much black spot a PLUS as far as I'm concerned. I've been nursing this poor bush for 4 years. I couldn't even remember what the original rose would have looked like. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me. The twining isn't the rose foliage it is Apios.
