Yes, Jarrahdale. I bought the seeds from Baker Creek several years ago and have grown them every year since. If you'd like some seeds, Tree Mail me your current addy and I'll get a packet right out to you.

It's probably the best winter squash out there. The fruit gets quite large and keeps for a very long time. I suppose it is a "cheese type" squash.

Squash bugs entirely shut down my squash growing a few years ago.

They were overwintering in winter compost heaps and around the greenhouse ground connections. This thread has given me enough ideas to maybe try again. The populations are way down, but I know they'll be back. No SVB on the left side of the continent, thankfully (yet).

We mill our own flour every week, so that's an easy one. I interplant pretty heavily so I don't know if covers are possible, but I might be able to come up with something. I feel a twinge of hope coming on.

Maybe I'll try this Jarrahdale variety.

Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me.

From a "puttin' up" standpoint, Jarrahdale is my fav. Best bang for your buck.

Thanks, Dave, I'll take a raincheck on the Jarrahdale seeds. I'm saving room for fall brassica and onions, late tomatoes, and also have a 3 cheese pumpkin plants I'll be setting out tomorrow or next day.

Paul, your squash bug pic is something nightmares are made of! :>+ Makes me wanna roll that whole leaf up and squish it! I hope you will have better success in the future.

Shoe...entirely too warm, waiting for shadows to lengthen before going back out. Ugh.
