When I bought a plant at a nursery just recently there was a crown of another plant in the same pot. This is what has been growing so far. Any ideas what it could possibly be?

Did they have any Penstemons at the nursery?

It looks like a Penstemon seedling, although there are plenty of other things it could be as well.

Arlene, this may seem way out of left field but I have seen Staghorn Fern seedlings that looked like that.

Wow, a wide range. I thought maybe English Daisy. But I will keep and eye on it and take more pictures as it progresses.

It was funny because when I asked they guy at the nursery about the lobelia to confirm since there was no tag, he said, yes, it is a lobelia and I'll give it to you free because it was a volunteer. The original plant in the pot died. Well, it didn't die, just probably got knocked around and went dormant. It's fighting to grow now and I got them both FREE!!!!

I can see it is not a seedling and looks like a double crown
My German statice looks like that when it first emerges , but very few places sell German statice so the chances are slim

plan to watch to see what develops Smiling

Yes, German Statice it could be! The nursery this came from would certainly sell something like that. They have an extensive offering of "non box store" plants.

And that nursery organizes their perennials alphabetically. So it would make sense that Limonium would be near Lobelia which was the volunteer in the pot

Great detective work and deduction Thumbs up Jennifer

Arlene
If it is German Statice you will like the plant I have had mine for 6+years now.
Just a warning if you pick it for the house it smells bad , rather like rotting sea weed Blinking
The smell eventually goes away but it takes a while Smiling
