1.5" dumped from the gauge a little while ago. And as far as I can tell our drought level has officially been lowered to severe.

My goal this year is to have that white color on the map (no drought!) sometime. Nice to not have to water anything for a while!

I was on my way out to fertilize a bit. Thunderstorm drove me back inside. I think it really is gone now. Whistling

It looks my area has been down graded to moderate drought. The ground here is saturated. There were still puddles from the rain we had a couple of days ago.

We got 2". From the map I think we are on the line between severe and extreme.

I hope all your gardens, farms, and trees got a good deep drink. At least on radar, it looked like most of Texas got good rain yesterday.

Thanks Karen! We had over 3" yesterday. Still cloudy, but the rain is gone now. It was a good slow rain.

That's the best kind of rain, for sure.

The after-effects still reverberate here. I went to the feed store and the guy asked me if I've seen many fawns this year. Well, had to explain that there weren't many deer left in my area until the last 2 weeks, when we started seeing more. But I've only seen one fawn here this year...and that was after those extra deer moved in here. He said the usual spring fawns barely even happened at all this year in the whole area,. And some does have had fawns just recently...late. Kind of reminded me of documentaries I've seen about poor undeveloped countries where the girls grow up too small and undernourished. And when they're married off very young, it creates a lot of problems. Girls who are too small for their age due to poverty shouldn't ever be married very young. It creates many medical problems for both the girls and their babies. Poor deer here...so small and scrawny looking! I do what I can for them...that's all I can do. We've had a small amount of rain, still waiting for a decent amount. 60% chance now, 70% tonight.

Here's wishing you RAIN!

We had nearly 2" last evening. 'Supposed to get more tonight, but I think it's going to miss us. Amazing how the plants perk up after some rain and lightning! Smelled so good last night. Just muggy now.

edited to add: We've had another 1 1/2" tonight with lots of lightning. I was just about to send the garden club newsletter and had to turn off the desk computer where all the addresses are. Guess it can wait until tomorrow! So much lightning, I didn't trust the surge protector. We're on a hill, but there's a flood watch for the lower part of our subdivision where Barton Creek flows. Still raining a bit, but lightning's gone.

Grateful for the rain. Now they say we may get a "cold front."
