Yeah, got told about this. My only hiccup with it is the resolution. Some stuff that I take (and I'm sure others) looks fantastic at 4000px wide. But when it gets shrunk to 1000 or so, it starts looking awful. Everything that made the photo great kind of folds up and washes into itself. So...when thinking about shooting for this site, instead of thinking broad good shots, I'm starting to shoot for the crop (so I can post 1:1, pixel for pixel)...which is a terrible idea on so many levels for so many reasons.

Not that there needs to be anything done about it. It's a real constraint of the 'net for sure. But it does twist things a little.
This is fun: The thread "Asa's former lawn...or (better) Dirt's current gardens" in Garden Photos forum

I've found I can upload large pixel pictures "as is" if I do them one at a time -- and surely for the contest Dave, you won't mind? Asa, remember that the photo we see "up front" is just a cropped icon. We can click on that to see your original. Maybe you know that -- I didn't at first. MR

If you don't resize the image, the system will resize it for you.

But that's an interesting idea, to let the photo contest permit full size images.

Mmm. Thanks for that clarification, Dave. I didn't check the final size my photos got turned into, but it's definitely been more than I was sending at first. We had dialup access until we got our satellite this past year and I was going on what we could send before... MR

Anything over 1000 pixels wide will be resized by the ATP system. If you resize your image to 1000 pixels wide then that's the maximum for posting here.

I was sizing mine down to 600 pixels. They do look better in 1000! Thumbs up

Since it took forever for a large photo of mine to upload to the sight, I have gotten used to resizing them to around 640x480. Sooooo much faster Big Grin It is nice to know that 1000 pixels is the max.

Try PhotoRazor, not only can you downsize but you can also increase the size. You can select a single photo in a folder to resize, or do the lot. You can also adjust the quality by percentage which reduces the size in kb. The resized photos are placed in a separate folder within the folder.
