my first thought was a Theobroma species.... just can't say which one or if it is for certain

I just love it! Thanks for the ID. Some prankster switched all the plant ID tags in the garden! This one did not even have one.

Theobroma is a good guess, but Goethea strictiflora is the plant.

The Goethea genus no longer exists. All of the species have been reclassified as species of Pavonia. Goethea strictiflora is now a synonym for Pavonia strictiflora.
