Clapping my hands and jumping up and down at what you posted Kevin. What an amazing new break through this semp would be.

Laszlo, does anyone know the breeding of it? Or is it a foundling?

From reading this I remembered that I had a white semp chick from my 'Carnival' plant - it never did thrive...lasted less than a summer - but it was pretty while it lasted!! I tip my hat to you.

Unfortunately I can not trace it from. If I could, then I would have it, for yourself or availability. I also wanted to buy more plants, but it was not. I think next year will be 200 pieces of this variety. (small cuttings)

Truly a treasure you have Laszlo. I look forward to watching it grow to many more rosettes.

I've search for an hour through all of laszloszakszon's posts, and I can't find a follow-up to this fascinating thread. Does anyone know what happened after the winter of 2014 to László's beautiful variegated semps. I'm afraid I know the answer since I can't find anything else about them. But, Lynn, I did see that you had a couple of pictures in the database, so you might have found one yourself. Thank You!

Judith, all those photos are from Laszlo. I do have one remaining offset that is finally rooting. I still have it on the covered deck to keep it protected. It is not ready to go out and play with the big girls and boys. Whistling
It is the only one of six offsets that came to the US that made it. Believe me, I am doing everything in my power to keep this one going. It is a real treasure that Laszlo presented to us.
Please keep good thoughts going for this little plant.

Lynn, that is very good news. It sounds like that strain must be pretty delicate. That kind of puts you under some pressure, doesn't it? I'll send good thoughts your way for it's survival and success! Thumbs up

Actually I think the plant is relatively tough, but it went from Hungary, to Germany where all the roots were cut off, then sent to the US. That is quite a journey to make it through.
Thank you so much for the good thoughts. Smiling

All the roots were cut off!!!?? I'd say that's a pretty drastic plant-export rule. I bet only a semp can survive that treatment!

It does take patience and daily care to get new roots growing on them, especially after such a long trip. Good thing they are forgiving and tough.

Lynn, they all winter outdoors. Now a nice cold in the morning, and the colors are more vibrant.
