S.O. brought home this section of vine from a job. Was pretty wilted but hopefully someone can ID it. If it's something nice I want to save the seeds

Any ideas ?

TIA mj

Very interesting but I have no idea what that beauty is!

My first thought was Coral Vine (Antigonon leptopus)

but I'm not sure the leaves are right for that one.

I had the same thought as Lin when I first saw it, but the leaves aren't right for any I've ever seen. The leaves on Antigonon leptopus are heart shaped with a sort of bumpy texture. The pink on the Coral Vine is a bract much like on Bougainvilla and I can't tell in the photo if it's a bract or not. The closeup almost looks like a Crepe Myrtle, but obviously it's not that. The pods look really close to Coral Vine. For me, the leaves say it's not Coral Vine.

Lin and Donald you both are on the same track I'm on. We've looked at a ton of pics and the leaves are just not right for anything the bloom might suggest.

I'm saving some seeds off it and I'll grab some pics and post. Maybe that will give an additional clue.

One seed per pod about the size of a Pea.
