I've turned a few 10 gal size aquariums into terrariums over the past five years; one I recently donated to a raffle at our botanical gardens but I still have two ten gallon terrariums and also an octagonal tank (I think it's 45 gal) that friends gave me @ three years that I turned into a terrarium. I used to have a few smaller glass containers with lids that I grew plants in as well but with space at a premium I've slowly downsized and no longer have any glass jars planted.
I could take lessons from shadowfax; his/her beautiful terrarium is really a showpiece and puts mine to shame. All of my terrariums have scratched, dirty glass.
but the plants seem to be happy; a Pilea cadierei 'Pan Am' is currently in bloom in one terrarium. One of the 10 gal tanks only has one plant in residence; Gloxinella lindiana and that terrarium has been out on the screened porch for a few months with no lid on it. We had temp's of 44ºF here last night and I was surprised to find all of the plants on the porch were okay this morning, including the orchids thank goodness.
Not the best lighting on the two indoors:

I was surprised because I didn't realize I had the miniature Chritia tamiana anymore but I found one little plant with a bud in a 10 gal terrarium and two plants in the hex tank!
