I knew that daylilies did this, but not iris's. I came across a photo at AIS on Facebook that showed prolifs on an iris flower stalk. I have never had any. Has any one else? and which ones?

One of my daylilies has a proliferation on almost every stalk. All the others, there might be one or two.. The Iris shown is a dichotoma... I've not seen one on a bearded, that I recall..

I have never seen one on a bearded iris.

While I've never had one in my garden, I have seen one on i.pallida, at a friends house. They are pretty rare, I guess, but do happen occasionally. There was at least one that was registered, Proliferation's Pride. I'm not sure if it was ever introduced.

If you plant them are they a clone of the parent plant?

As I understand it, some are "clones", but most are 'sports'....which would be somewhat different than the parent, either in color, or texture.

There are occasional iris sports like 'Beverly in White' but not many.
