When some ask for a ID, they might of heard of Zelyanica. I don't know who even sells this. Smoley said he believes it to be trifasciata. There is a lot of confusion in the hobby on this subject. What do you believe or think?

IDK. The names of Sans seem so convoluted, and almost all are cultivars, not species. I try not to get involved with those kinds of names except for a very few plants.

Update on Siderasis (brown spiderwort,) showed 5/14.

Tiffany,
Not so familiar with Siderasis. At first glance, I though it was a hosta. Also I think I crossed posted about the Sans ID. Happens with old age.

Yes, it does look similar to a Hosta! If you could feel the leaves though, you would know it's not one. They're covered with a fairly rough fuzz.

Man, u ain't kiddin' about the age thing... but I refuse to insert any of *many* examples of burgeoning senior moments, or I just can't remember them. You decide. LOL!

TY! I agree. Tradescantia spathacea (oyster plant, Moses in a boat) progressing well:

Spanish moss I picked up from the ground at a nearby lake. It was all brown but parts of it have turned green. I think it's alive! Put in/on a Dracaena tree.

I'd forgotten about putting this piece of Ludisia here, but looks alive! Next to Coleus seedling, for scale.

Status update on Anthurium and Siderasis. Growing, but, as you can see, not completely happy. IDK why... ...time to pot back up soon.

Yes, TY, it's possible, at a few times during the morning, some direct sun. The spots on both plants look like oedema, I think. The soil in this whole bed isn't very good yet, so recently reclaimed from grass. They both look so much better though, hopefully healthy enough to survive a few months inside again. We will watch 'em together. :+)

Woot! Hopefully they stick around. Do you have an old fish tank for the winter perhaps?

Actually, I think we do! I have quite a few things that could hang out in there, that I think are probably humidity divas, or just known to be unhappy in a pot in my house, for whatever reasons. TY so much for reminding me about it!

Of course! I remember @Cinta mentioning something about putting her fussy plants in an aquarium in the winter for added humidity, so I give her credit for the idea.

Yep I am the aquarium queen these days. Many yrs ago I loved fresh water fish and salt water fish. I have three 40 gallon tanks and one hundred gallon tank. I have been using the 40 gallon for my coleus. I used it last year for them and I finally had some survivors.

I think I posted the two Terrariums that I picked up that I will use for my begonias this year. The Gardenia, and other humidity divas are going into the other aquariums this winter. That will leave lots of room in the sun room for the succulents.

Last winter I only watered my Terrariums once all winter. The less water I have to do the better. The begonias went wild and started growing out the top of the terrarium.

Some of you may remember the 'Aloe Vera' that I purchased last year around this time (looking at the calendar, it celebrated it's 1st year with me yesterday!).

If not, I purchased this 'Aloe Vera' a year ago on clearance for $2. About 75% of its roots were rotted, and I figured for the time of year, it had about a 50/50 chance of recovering.

Right after being repotted and placed outside (last year):

I think this and another 'Aloe Vera' are the only ones who wanted to make it. Hilarious! I don't seem to have the best luck with the hybrids. Sad

fiat said:Hi, I had this combo cacti abused (uncared) for years and this summer when I started growing houseplants I found it near dead. In another forum here, some pointed out it's dead and some suggested to look at their roots see if intact... So I pulled them out, checked their not much alive roots, threw one (with roots gone) away, and re-potted it put under summer sun... Now I am still not sure if it actually survived (I do see them grow a lot more 'hair' though). Let you guys give the verdict:

I wholeheartedly think one of the cacti has survived and is doing ok now (showing some green under its hair). Others were long gone.
