Thanks! I would be lost trying to ID a good-looking cactus, let alone this particular, awful-looking one. If it actually looks like a real plant later, somebody might recognize it, but it wouldn't be me.

That would be fun & cool!

Planto, has it been since January that we had an update on your Aloe?

Tiff,
Ty for asking. *Blush* I didn't realize it had so long since my last update.

I repotted it from a 4" pot to a 6" pot a couple weeks ago; my Mother said it was drying out almost daily. Full of roots yet again. Hurray! It has lost a leaf since October and appears to be losing two more, but it has grown about four new ones. Honestly, I'm surprised that it didn't shed the three mentioned leaves sooner. As you can see in the first picture, they looked pretty bad.

I'm not signed into Flickr atm, so here's a link to my Aloe (and other C&S) picture for a current picture.

I don't necessarily have before and after pictures, but I have a half fail/half saved-from-the-brink story.

I purchased 2 'caramel' coral bells plants from the clearance rack at (Home Depot?)...both were shriveled up and brown, but since they were marked a little more than 50% off, I thought I would give them a shot. Here is a picture of each. Both started out doing great, but somehow I seemed to lose the one after several successful weeks of recuperation and the other flourished. I planted the successful one in the ground and I'm waiting to see if, by some stroke of good luck, the other one shows any sign that it might bounce back.

I noticed that mine (heuchera) are needing more water than usual, and more shade! I have one just barely hanging on, its in a 4inch pot that I let dry out (several times) no pics yet, but it may turn out to be a lovely plant if I can keep it going! Thumbs up DogsNDays - your plant looks great!!! What a comeback indeed Hurray!

This is really a stretch as far as being relevant, but I think y'all will appreciate - some of this Spanish moss I found on the ground at a nearby lake looks like it's still alive. Right by the little tree trunk at the top, there's a part that's turned green. One step closer to making this pot look like a real mini jungle...!

TYVM! It's the hot, humid weather & rain water. (I feel bad that you can't catch any!)

Also, I recently decided that by the time I actually find a fertilizer I like & buy it, it could be years from now. I never go to a store until we're desperately out of something, hate any kind of plant shopping except when a garden center is the destination. So, in what I hope is some sort of approximation or cousin of compost tea, I've been using any water I've boiled pasta or veggies in also. Too recent to have an opinion about it as potential fertilizer, but should be safe for plants, and adds to my overall amount of "free" water. When I added some to rain bucket yesterday, (to share the love to more possible potted plants,) my dog though it was really tasty. Smiling

You might have written one of the things I read to decide to do that. My blender puked, can't make banana water for now. (Pureรฉ peels &/or over-ripe whole ones, dilute in watering water.)

On 3/16, I took plants outside. To the right, a sad little spider plant is barely visible. Last October, I found a couple sprouts when digging up snake plants to bring inside for winter, so I stuck them in the pot, before they got big enough to need a shovel to remove.
Thumb of 2015-08-18/purpleinopp/5d38d9

After the snake plants went elsewhere, spider plant had the pot to itself, plenty of room to roam, and looks like this now, having bloomed & made a couple babies. I knew it was nowhere near dead in March, but the change is dramatic.
