Can someone help id these white worms in my bird bath/bee waterer? They are about 15 mm in length.

My guess would be ascarids or roundworms; intestinal parasites in wild birds.

We de-worm our pets but we cannot do that for the wild birds. That's why it is important to keep the bird bath clean.

You may not be able to help all the wild birds, but you can protect yourself, your children and your pets. Even a little thing can help break the cycle.

@greene, do you mean by just cleaning my bird bath? Or is there something else? I do clean my birdbath regularly....

Okay, if I am understanding the question correctly...and forgive me if this is too much information.
Yes, there is more we can do.

We in the United States don't talk about intestinal parasites or worms. In other cultures they admit that humans can have intestinal parasites and they take steps to control it.

Long ago we knew why we ate certain foods at certain times of the year; why we used certain herbs and spices. All of that knowledge included the treatment of intestinal parasites. But now it seems that no one talks about it. It's still happening, we just don't want to hear it or talk about it. Or we think that only children playing in the dirt can catch this stuff.

Lots of people think that only poor countries with bad sanitation have intestinal parasites. Not true. It can happen to anyone, anytime. People who have pets usually have their dogs and cats checked for worms about once or twice a year. But people, almost never.

Here in the US we like to use leaf blowers which raised worm eggs left by birds/dogs/cats/raccoons, etc. and we breath in all that dust including the parasite eggs. I see in your avatar you have a (cute as can be )child or possibly a grandchild. Children are forever putting their hands into their mouths and that's one way the worms can spread. But adults are not immune. While I am out walking my dog, I always try to keep my face and my dogs face covered if be encounter someone using a leaf blower.
Heck, even a brisk day with high winds can make the eggs part of the dust we are breathing in.

But there is hope in food.

Pumpkin and/or cloves can help, too. I think eating some heavily spiced pumpkin pie about once every two months is a step in the right direction.
