It does look a lot like Chrysanthem x rubellum 'Clara Curtis'. This is a very old cultivar and one of the most cold hardy. It was a stalwart in many a grandmothers' flower gardens in the north. In the last 15 years it has experienced a bit of a revival here in Minnesota. But it is unlikely that you would have bought it as a regular unspecified variety bedding mum, like from big box store. As you picture it, that is its normal habit, kinda gangly. Compared to other (usually less hardy) cushion mums, Clara Curtis is certainly not a show stopper. I would expect it only to be available at real nurseries, if found at all.
