Yep, I did it again, collected some seeds and didn't mark them. I am thinking possibly Stokesia (Stokes Aster)but i'm not sure since I have never grown them from seed so I don't know what the seeds look like.

Hi Arlene,
It does look like Stokesia.
One note though, the seeds you've photographed look a bit shriveled. I've found that Stokesia seeds that look like this generally don't contain an embryo or endosperm inside. The good seeds are more filled out and will be harder. If they are easy to crush, then they are not viable. Echinaceas will do the same thing and the hybrids are the worst. I went through hundreds of 'Pixie Meadowbrite' "seeds" once, only to find about 12 actual seeds. I've also received the shell-only seed imposters in trades of various Echinacea and Stokesia so it must be pretty common. (Many Salvias will do a similar thing, too, but that's a different family of plants.) Smiling

Oh, I end up with little piles of seed everywhere that I forget to label, too. Hilarious!

Guess they won't be going in for the trade then. Thanks for telling me. I sure don't want people to get dud seeds.

There might still be some good ones mixed in with the dud ones. Shrug!

Good info Danita, I have never collected the seeds, I just allow the plants to free-seed here. Glad you caught that.
