Loads of great Coleus varieties!!! Here is an outdoor pot I made up last Summer. I really love the deep Burgundy with green edges.

Most of my plants are in the garden all year (I am in the subtropics). I renew them, if needed, by striking cuttings when bushes get old and woody. Interestingly, I get new cultivars that spring up as volunteers. I can only guess at the parentage. I keep my eye out for these tiny seedlings. This is a recent, attractive one of reasonable size.
The photo is not of the plant at its best. It was growing amongst rapidly expanding papaya roots and I had to move it, which it didn't like.

I think this is one of the parents which is nearby.

The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

Gleni, I believe this is the first time I am getting seedlings coming up, well I have before but we usually get a frost that does them in. We never dipped below 38 this year and that was only twice, so I am seeing seedlings coming up in my coleus pots. I'm so excited to see what they turn out to be, I used to pinch back the fall flowers, but last couple years I've let some go to seed.

I got this one last year and loved it! It could be the same one, Frilly. Shrug!

I don't have a photo of the whole plant, but you can see part of it in this photo:

I just bought a similar looking one called 'Campfire' but I think it's a new variety for this year. Smiling

Susie, that name seems familiar... I can't be sure, but that looks right. It does get more yellow-orange in more sun, but mine was in pretty much full shade. It grew with vigor and got pretty good sized.

Sherri, I find the seedlings exciting too. I do try to cut off the flowers but they can be quite a pretty display sometimes. I have native Plectranthus growing as well.

That Sedona is beautiful. I don't have great luck with it tho.
My favorite coleus are the dark leaved ones like Felix.

I just bought ColorBlaze Keystone Kopper Coleus, and I agree Frillylily's looks to be the Colorblaze Sedona.

My pot was a two for, but didn't say what the other coleus was, does anyone know?
