Nice thing about LA is time can be taken to check out lineage to see if there is rust resistance or not.
In seeds, rust resistance may or may not come through, but I'm buying ones with rust resistant backgrounds.

I'm tagging seedlings with rust resistance ratings and those that aren't won't be included in my crosses.
With 77,000+ registered daylilies, hybridizing options shouldn't be limited.

I hate spraying too.

If I have something with alot of rust, I usually dont even look to see who it is, I close my eyes and toss it. 99.9% of the time, they are the small struggling plants anyway. Of course, it always turns out, they were the cross or plant you wanted to see most Grumbling

I didnt want to start a whole new thread...just thought id piggy back if thats ok. I was curious if anyone has seen the 'Closed Auction' changes in the way the date is written, but more interesting to me is, instead of going back 3 months....they are now showing all sales back two years. Thumbs up

I live in Florida. We have rust. It's a fact of life. Paradise is not perfect. I don't let it stop me from growing plants I like. We also have lots of bugs, diseases, and other challenges. But it does not snow here, plants grow year round here, and I love it here .... despite hurricanes, heat, and all the other stuff that comes with living in Florida. I imagine that Australia is the same, right, Glen?

I, too, have had to step away from the computer to avoid the LA temptation. It is addicting and can become expensive .... I have my few won auction seedlings and will enjoy those and the freebie seeds I've gotten from some very generous folks. I can't wait to see the first blooms from these seedlings this coming Spring/Summer. Oh! The possibilities from seeds ..... Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Thumbs up

Last year I shipped seeds to Australia, all I needed to do is fill out the customs declaration, shipping cost was the same as every other international order $6.55 for a 9x7 bubble mailer
