Photos taken mid May, along a trail in the woods of the North Georgia mountains near Blue Ridge. Not the clearest pictures but I hope someone recognizes the plant and can give me an ID. My first thought was maybe Spirea of some sort, then I thought maybe Summersweet Clethera/Sweet Pepperbush (Clethera alnifolia) but after looking at lots of pictures (to my old eyes) it doesn't appear to be either of those.

Astilbe or Goat's Beard perhaps?

I got my hands on a plant that I thought was Astilbe from neglected yard last year. It turned out to be Aruncus (Goat's Beard). I don't know exactly how to tell the difference

Ooops ... well, not that I've looked at lots of photos of Aruncus I'm not sure which it is. I'll have to do some more research but I do thank you for putting me on the right track!

I am leaning towards Aruncus dioicus which is a native, they were growing throughout a forested area in the north Georgia mountains.

Thanks Celene! After doing more research, I'm pretty certain it's Aruncus dioicus.
