O.K. I just posted this to the other revived thread but I will move it to this one because I want to play too.

This year I added...
In Cahoots SDB
Looney SDB
Snitch SDB
Tremors SDB
Keeno MDB
and Scatterbrain TB

All are doing great except Scatterbrain. I really like this iris but it is not doing well at all. It lost its tall leaves when it was planted and even though it has roots it has not put up and more green growth. I hope it makes it. I have others of his but I did not add them this year. smiles

Hi Bonnie - we have to find more iris topics so we can play, right? Spring 2015 is a ways off!

I forgot an SDB - Ultimate

My Scatterbrains (2 of them - it was one of my early obsessions) - are both doing well, so far.

My Season's In the Sun is huge, and must have at least 6 or 7 increases on it. I'm really eager to see that one bloom next spring. Scatterbrain is a bit like Patchwork puzzle, but not quite as brightly colored.

Since this is my first big year for planting and buying irises (got my feet wet in 2013) - I have so much to look forward to.
Tom, from pictures, I can't quite see the resemblance of Scatterbrain to Patchwork Puzzle - but I'll look again.(correction - I do see the resemblance) My memory
has focussed on a kind of mustard yellow edging on P.P., with more of a purple/lavender on the falls, and the light red falls of Scatterbrain. I know that form is crucial to good
irises - but I'm all about color! I see what you mean about P.P. being more brightly colored. You nailed it. I like them both!

The only one I have of those, Debra, is Dancing Star and Scream. I like them all but Howler is one I think I want. You will have to tell me how the color looks when it blooms. The iris I am really looking for is a blue with pink beard. hard to find that combination.

would someone post a little info about Tom Johnson please like where he lives, and if you know any details about how he became a hybridizer and how long he has been hybridizing. I know I could look it up but then we would all have to look it up and, for me, it would make the thread more interesting to know a few facts about the person who created the irises I am coveting.

OK, you made me look. Yes, Debra, please put my name by Howler and if it increases well, and if no one has made a previous request I would like a start. The irises that you shared with me last summer are thriving. smiles
