Hi, I'm new to this forum, and also to south florida. I want to start my veggie garden. We tried a couple of tomato plants with little luck. In the ground, raised beds or pots??? And what else can I plant in November?
I have a good sized yard ( for a gated community it's large) . Lots of sun, minimal shade and part shade. Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Val

Hi Val, Welcome!

Our climate is a bit more north than yours but has some similarities. At this time of year the daily high temperatures are much cooler than in the summer and that means we can grow lots of things now that we can't grow in July. All the greens like lettuce and spinach grow great for us in the winter. I'd suggest you start there. Tomatoes are better suited for the warmer parts of the year.

My main fall/winter crop is garlic, but I am in NE Mississippi, quite a bit further north. Onions do very well right now as well.

Welcome to ATP Valery. Welcome! I might be a wee closer to the equator than you but lettuce, rocket, radishes, squash, silver beet, egg plant, chillies, basil, perennial coriander, lemon grass, oregano, thyme, mints should keep you on the run. An aggressive cherry tomato might work for you too.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

In zone 10 in Florida, tomatoes are a winter crop.

Even though I will be of no help in gardening (being in Alaska) I did want to say Hi and welcome to the friendliest and most helpful group on the internet. Okay. So I am a tad prejudice. Hilarious! Hilarious! But in addition to information, there is also a ton of fun, camaraderie and even recipes. Welcome!
