Our property was at one time an avocado grove, but like many of the trees here, was hit hard by root rot. We took out all of the mostly dead trees (lots of firewood) and we have two left. This one bears and right now looks the healthiest it has in years, I think due to last winter's rains. This is a huge old tree, way past 30 years old and bears in alternate years. Yeah, looking at the avos we'll have this year, I do feel lucky.

My parents grew an avocado tree from a pit. Of course, it never bore fruit. When it was about 30 feet tall, they had to pay someone to cut it down. LOL! Avocado's weren't a favorite of mine (except guacamole - always liked that) until a couple of years ago, and they used to get a bad rap, due to calories. Now, I eat some almost daily... yummy, plus all those omega 3's!

My tomatoes got a late start and are taking off now, hope that means I'll still be getting them later on.

With extra tomatoes you can make Spicy Tomato Jam. Excellant on pancakes, waffles, french toast and---- HOT BUTTERMILK BISQUITS!!!! It is not a hot spicy, but sweet and delicate.

Everything seems to be starting late here this year with our May - June overcast. Finally a bloom on my Corkscrew Vine, but I'd need a ladder to get a good whiff of it...lol..

Ha, looks like we should have started an Aug. bloom tread! Those are really unusual blooms Sherry. Hopefully you'll get some hanging down low enough for sniffing. Thumbs up

My aim was for this one to climb across this trellis, so that's okay, I guess. I have another one that I need to find a spot for to spread out more. I'd started 6-7 from seed, but only one made it through the winter in pots for whatever reason.
