I have only shared my own photographs of our wild does and fawns and bucks,
flowers , and insects that visit the flowers in my flower garden

I take the craters on the moon, trees , geese flying overhead, cats, and
it always brings joy to those in the nursing homes.

We have no relatives in the homes, we just go in an meet the residents
once a month quite a distance from our home.

take some candy sugar free, magazines, the photos of mine, and
give some hugs and take some pictures with them.

Everyone appreciates a touch physical in a hug or a smile or someone
to just listen to them and make them feel valuable as a human being for
just a moment in time..
here are some of the people we visit
they do not mind their photos being on there..

this is for you, a t hank you for the acorns and I am humbled by your gift
and thank you for your service to our country, the United States of America
for serving in the military .

We used to go visit the veterans nursing home also near Mobile Alabama
and met some nice older veterans

among those residing there was my
98 year old father in law who was in world war 2.

So many had no family to come see them

if they had a family as in local nursing
homes also...people just did not go visit them.

It made me uncomfortable and made me cry to go in the veterans home and the nursing homes because of the compassion I feel for others..

Jesus felt compassion for every human being...

It took time but I perservered and kept going and I was his hands and feet among
the humans, showing his love and compassion through me, the vessel he used

So thank you again for your service and for the acorns .

I could have sent this private but I felt someone might decide to visit an older
person or a nursing home if I wrote this for all to see ..

this is my father in law Jack ..who served in world war 2 and has now passed away
he was on a destroyer in the Navy during in the war...
Thanks

greene said:Each person gets rewarded in a different way. May I ask if you have shared with the good folks in the nursing home the entries, all the entries on the first ATP photo contest? Hundreds of smiles available. Thumbs up That is quite a reward.

Great idea! Until 5 years ago, was a nursing home nurse and nursing supervisor, and, I've been dodging nursing home confinement off and on for past couple years. I know I would be thrilled to have opportunity to see contest photos were I a nursing home resident, even more so than I was thrilled viewing them at home.
Sheri, you brought tears to my eyes-you are a gift to those who have been forgotten.

Sheri: You are one in a million! I sent you acorns to thank you for your caring and sharing spirit! My dear mother in law has been gone ten years now but when she was in an assisted living facility, I spent almost every day with her (and also visiting with the other residents) and I feel so blessed to have been able to do so. There were many residents who had family who lived right here in town but never found the time to visit except during the holidays; which was very sad. Our elderly do not ask for much, a kind word or smile will truly make their day! I save my magazines to donate to nursing homes and assisted living homes; the elderly residents especially seem to love Country Magazine and Birds and Blooms Magazine! Smiling

Thank You! Sheridragonfly for your kind heart! Lovey dubby
