Very neat stuff showing up here. It occurred to me last night that this thread really accounts for about 90pct of gardening in one form or another...the apex window is so short on things...yet there is so much else going on. And I love the Japanese words...and your understanding of how your husband's using them, too. I can kind of 6th-sense (who knew THAT was a verb?) the vibe there. Fantastic.

Here's a shot of a well-known weed...and I think it's lovely:

I think my understanding and the vibe come from 42 years of marriage and 2 folks with a pretty fair sense of humor....most of the time.. Rolling my eyes.

Isn't it interesting how quickly the eye learns to look beyond the perfect bloom if given a bit of encouragement? Thanks for the push, Asa.

I have always been fascinated with fungi....they are rather like Nature's clean-up crew...and when they look like a dormouse popping out of a hole, I am delighted.

Loving this!
Already loaded with wonderful stuff and I just know it is gonna keep growing.
I can't wait to see more sabe-wabe-licious stuff Hilarious! (The Japanese words are *perfect* for this thread and I'm sorry but I could not resist using the fun modification)
I know we all have a bunch of it to work with because, as Asa said, it accounts for about 90% of gardening (and everything else, too, if you ask me).

daylily seedpods
I put that first one in the photo contest Hilarious! it did not play well with all the pretty flowers Hilarious! but that was a really gorgeous seedpod, nonetheless.

Beyond the encouragement and celebration, perhaps the thing I appreciate most about this thread is the permission!

I am SO enjoying this! Thanks for starting this thread Asa. I tip my hat to you.

I may even be able to contribute to it.

This is a wonderful thread, and even though we garden all year 'round down here, all the tropical divas are dying back now, so I will be on a hunt for some picture-worthy stuff coming up. We are forecast for a couple of really cold - low 40's - nights this week.

I'm loving seeing this stuff. And the other thing is that there's some neat art here...not in spite of the subjects, but because of the subjects. Here's a leaf from up on the mountain I shot a couple of weeks ago. Pretty traditional, but I like the shot:

I wondered why this butterfly had not moved in days. Before I realized he took his last wing flap days alive on a Hibiscus.
