Yes, agree with that Greg..over here our humidity is low in the 30% range, so cool and dry is okay with it.

Hello all, I would like to share my little slice of succulent heaven with you. I started this over a year ago. The pot was an old light/fountain thingy I found at the Re-store and alot of the rocks, shells, wood etc. my daughter and I collected on various camping trips. It's been alot of fun for us and I hope all of you enjoy it as well.

Take care, J.R.

Welcome! Thanks for sharing it. I bet you both did have a great time making it. Now you can enjoy watching it grow. Do you have a well lit place for it?

Thanks for the warm welcome. It sits on the back porch and gets partial sun all day. It's a bit leggy from a recent move too.

Take care, J.R.

That sounds like a good location for most of the year. You could bring it in if you get a frosty spell.

Hello JR welcome to ATP! Welcome! I made a few of those over the years and feel like they periodically need 'refreshing' new plants added and old ones taken out - I consider it a continuous 'work in process' - which reminds me I have one that has semps and sedum in it and is due for a make over, it has moss in it Whistling
Yours does look great! The porch thing is a good idea - your does look like it could use a bit more light for the plants to really reach their peak! I tip my hat to you.

Thanks, I would like to get it under more direct sun but the surrounding forest will only share partial sun with me and my plants.

Love your succulent bowl JR! I find that during summer the partial sun/shade helps the succulents endure the intense dry summer heat when it arrives. In my area, direct sun would have easily fried some of my succulents if not for the shade from our city trees. My location is more inland so it is really hot and dry here by then. But this year's spring has been really mild so succulents are having a good time!

@lauriebasler if you click the actual post number, it pops up on it's own page and then you can copy and paste the URL so it becomes clickable. it's hard to locate a post by the just the number posted. nodding

Also, depending on how many posts per thread you have your preferences set at, some people may have page 2 totally different than yours. I have mine set at 500 posts per page so I am currently over half way on page 2.

Thank you Suzanne, @Calif_Sue. That explains why people do that. I got some bad information on this and am grateful for this info.
Thank you.

Hi there all, just wondering if you use slow release fertiliser for your succulents, and if so how often?

Hello all, very casual, very small collection of succulents here (mostly jades and stapelias/huernias). After moving my plants indoors for the season, I noticed my basement had a very funky smell, almost like a cat had pissed on the plants before I brought them in. But I brought them in after work, in the middle of a rainstorm, so no. And since the stapelias weren't in bloom, I wasn't sure what it was coming from. Then today I discover this:

My Princess Pine (Crassula muscosa) in full bloom.
So I look it up in the plant database.
Flowers: Malodorous
Then on Wikipedia.
"When in flower, the plant can produce a pungent, acrid smell not unlike cat urine"
No. Kidding.

Oh so cute! Not the smell though heheh...I did not notice the odor on my watch chain, maybe because it is being grown outdoors.

Cybrczch, Welcome. I'm sure the smell will not last more than a few days. But you do have a lot of flowers there. Never heard of this before. Thanks for the info.

Interesting plant that I'm not familiar with. Love the flowers, but that sounds like a smell from Hell for indoors! Good thing it's in your basement! Smiling
