Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, Ken. Unranked Miami is favored over number 2 Florida State. I think these same predictors are behind Groundhog Day and hurricane projections not to mention orchid nomenclature.

I just came in from more OC cleaning and see that Ken's dawgs are in a big hole at half time. He must be spitting nails.

Uh oh! Not only spitting nails but freezing his . . fingers off too. Pretty chilly north of us these nights.

I think we proved we are as good as anyone in America. I won't bore you with stats, since the final score is the only measure of success (they were favored by 10, they won by 5), but we outgained Bama on the ground, in the air, more first downs, and more time of possession, but the deciding factor was three (unforced) interceptions. Two of those interceptions were within Bama's 20 yd. line. We simply could not overcome those turnovers.

Oh well, the sun will come up tomorrow and I will move on. There is still two games to be played and lots of things can happen before the final whistle blows.

Thanks to all of you who voiced their support of my Dawgs.

Bitter cold wind is in my garden tonight. Luckily I hadn't planted most of my Earth Boxes yet, so I just set the tropical plants on top, and covered the whole thing with the Big Tent.

My big dark begonia will do fine under the overhang tonight, but I'm not sure what this crazy blooming brug will look like tomorrow morning after the temps drop into the 30's tonight.

We could be looking at the upper 30s for a low tonight. I put the potted old man Palm into the OC and closed all of the windows. I can't think of anything else I need to do.

Our temps went sneaky..says low of 43 the other day and we woke up to 39F. Then our forecast high for today was supposed to be 75F but we only managed 57F. We have been getting cold foggy mornings too. But we are expecting some rains tomorrow and day after so that should bring back low temps to the 50's range.

I sure was having a fit of OC envy this afternoon, Jim.

That begonia came to me as a cutting from a friend who really thought I needed to grow it, since it is B. 'Elaine'. Big Grin

Came in from checking the greenhouse, 36 outside, nice toasty 58 in the greenhouse. Course that shot of brisk chilly air really woke me up, so no going back to sleep for a bit. Grumbling Elaine, my Brugs live outside and unless we get a hard frost or freeze they usually do just fine. Weather shows S Florida mid to upper 40's so you shold be fine.

We only got down to a balmy 23 F last night and had the heaviest frost yet. The GH's and enclosed porch stayed between 52 and 55 F so everything is good.

Tomorrow morning is actually supposed to be above freezing, but barely. After three mornings of 21, 19, and 23, I'll take it!

No frost here Thankfully. Supposed to be about the same temps, but maybe not so breezy so we might get a frost.

It dropped to 38 overnight but only to 59 in the OC. 45 degrees right now with a biting north wind and lots of gray clouds. The good news is we are warming up quickly and will see some 80s over the weekend.

I have my long underwear and a cashmere sweater on, and am just comfy inside the house. Have not ventured out yet as that bitter wind is blowing and the sun just finally came out.

Orchids definitely get to stay indoors today and go out tomorrow afternoon, probably.

We got 47F last night, and this morning it is drizzling a bit. That should stabilize temps nicely. But our highs forecast will only be 59F. Some more much needed rain this coming two days. It should hopefully make snow to the Sierra Nevadas where it needs to be for our water needs later on.

Hurray! for rain in California!

We'll be down in the 40's again tonight, but hope tomorrow warms up quickly. I have to be at the school garden tomorrow at 10am. Brrr! Hope all the kiddies have warm coats and hats.
