i did not know the plant with blue flowers. so had to go search for it. the closest seems to be
Lithodora diffusa 'Heavenly Blue' (Purple gromwell 'Heavenly Blue'). is that what it is? the leaves are so-o similar to rosemary! and thyme and juniper next to it? very elegant!

Thank you skylark, and you are good at sleuthing! I can't research with just a picture; takes too long to make the right discovery and I would have a big headache by then. But you are correct that blue flowers are from Lithodora diffusa...but it is 'Grace Ward' and planted next to Thymus 'Doone Valley' (and also another, French Thyme) and an unknown juniper.

The blue on blue theme was happenstance. I chose the Lithodora solely for its ground cover-like growing pattern and its very dark green leaves to go with the lighter color leaves of the two thymes It was a surprise this Spring to see the blue flowers(!) appear which matched the blue pot very well. So I have to admit that the blue on blue was not planned...

now that's serendipity! i love when something like that happens!
and such an intense blue, almost fluorescent. blue glaze is a beauty too :).
and i like the gradual subtle change of foliage and color that very small dense leaves create. sort of like a tapestry
...
when image searching for stuff you have no idea about (like happens to me a lot) the important idea is to think about what it resembles and then describing some identifying characteristic (that might be trivial, like 'large leaves' or 'small flowers' or 'tropical' in quotes with + in between). so, rosemary + 'bright blue flowers' + 'ground cover' - and search engine pulls all kinds of unrelated stuff that is similar - and you just scan very fast visually to get as close as you can, etc.
this one was not very easy, but on a 3rd try i hit it Big Grin
i get a kind of restless buzz when i can't identify smth: do it over and over until i find it. just can't give up! Shrug!

I love how this popped! I bought two Lithodora Grace Ward this spring. One promptly died, but the other is hanging on. Now fingers crossed it over winters! But maybe next year I should try it in a container.

Oooh, I just remembered I even have a blue container. Well if I can somehow fix the crack in it.

Thank you for this lovely picture!

Yes!..fix that crack and do the Blue Thing! Hurray!
There's articles on how to fix cracks on pots. I have a pot 21" across and have to fix that one someday. Crying
Hope I live long enough to get that done...
