It was fun doing this with Tom Johnson's irises, so we might as well try it with Paul Black irises, then we will have the Mid-America Gardens complete.

I hope mine grow well, Mary Ann, and I can share. I have been told it is really turquoise. I wonder if it changes its hue depending on where it is grown. Other irises I was told are turquoise are Miss Meredith, Tropical Shoals, Teagan, Blues Clues and Rich Blanquet - all SDB's. I am growing them so I can see if they really are. I will like them either way but I sure hope some are turquoise.

The starred Paul Blacks are correct. We have so many I could not list them & it is too cold to go out & look at tags. We have been dealing with Paul for years. More MDBs & SDBs than any other type.

You all have some nice colections of Paul Blacks, many I had to check out. Thanks for sharing.

My "Kiss of Passion" looked like it was dead too, but upon closer inspection it has a tiny bit of new growth coming. If it makes the winter it should be fine. I had two like that of a different cultivar last winter, and they came up strong this summer and bloomed. I think some spend extra time building a nice root system and then can do well the next year. I'm hoping anyway.

Love seeing your lists! Most of the irises I have were planted this year! So I haven't seen them bloom!
I'm like a little kid, waiting for Christmas.
I'm starting to appreciate the SDBs..I do have Cat's Eye, thanks to generous folks here. And I purchased Tom Johnson.
Maybe more of Paul Black. Will have to hunt.

I already had Cat's Eye, Chuckwagon and Experiment

AND I noticed that Paul really likes the musical "Cats" because many of the feline characters have become his iris.
