This is such a beautiful cemetery! I admired it in all the different shots you submitted. Where is it located? I grew up with a very large cemetery behind our back yard that had rolling hills and large trees. Now, I always find cemeteries to be such tranquil places to wander around in. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Thank you Debra and Leslie. Just planted 250 bulbs and around 180 perennials last week. I had three helpers for the plants. It's a wonderful landscape to work in. It has a grid layout of raised plots of various sizes and the soil is a Columbia fine sandy loam that we amend with manure and alfalfa pellet along with some mulch in the perennial garden area. This and our 9b zone makes it possible to grow all sorts of wonderful Mediterranean plants. We have 641 different plants and there cultivars currently and well over 1000 individual plants to care for It is quit a challenge for my collegue and I but also a great pleasure. I tip my hat to you.

Just received news via E-mail that Sacramento’s Historic City Cemetery is now on the National Registry of Historic Places! Hurray! I'm bit uncertain how this will effect our horticultural activities here. Hopefully the gardens will continue for another 25 years at least.

I understand your concerns but hopefully they will see all the planting as enhancing the historic value of the cemetery. Congrats to the garden on the Registry designation. Hurray!
