Also known as Hurricane or Surprise lily since it only appears when there has been sufficient rain.

Very nice Leslie!
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown

Very pretty banner! I just read up on the hurricane lily and it sounds like it would be a wonderful plant to have in the garden. I love learning about the plants I see on the banners.

It is a very intriguing plant. The blooms only come up if there has been enough water, so it varies from year to year how many of mine bloom. This year the only ones that bloomed were in a garden getting regular watering. After the bloom is done the variegated foilage comes out, stays for the winter then disappears again in late spring. I can tell you I was surprised when I saw one for the first time! Especially since I didn't plant it!!

The bloom lasts pretty well, and the whole plant seems to be rodent proof. At least in my yard!
