so glad to find this on Amazon. It works up to 200 feet and you can set a high and low temp alert. Now I can sleep tonight and not worry about the heater not coming on. Hard to see but it is LaCrosse model 308-1790R

I got this message.
Your search "LaCrosse model 308-1790R" did not match any products.

Is there another model number?

I couldn't locate the one you got @ecscuba but I found a simple, inexpensive temperature gauge that I hope will work well. If not, Amazon is great with returns. So many of the Weather gauge include features that I don't need so this one should work just fine.

Here is the link. I bought a cheap one from Home Depot and it just wouldn't transmit reliably. This one is working great plus it has the alerts. I saw it recommended on some other garden forum.

Amazon gave me that message too and I somehow tweaked my search and it found it. Something not quite right in their search on this one.

I just ordered a pair of them, one for each GH. I already had monitors but there was no alarm, just visual checking. Those were not much good from 10 PM till 6 AM while I am sleeping!

My GH weather gauge came in today. I read the reviews and quite frankly, I wonder if people know how to read instructions? Or do they bother? Mine worked perfectly after following the proper order in which to insert the batteries. Obviously, it makes a difference. Now I can monitor the GH temps at a glance. My obsession about the GH temps have slowed with the help of the thermostat and now the temperature gauge. We have a nice break in the temps to test out all my gadgets. But already I am trusting they will help me all winter long.

I love my Lacross too SHADY. So nice to monitor the temp from inside, although I will find just about any reason to go to the GH. You're right about the order to insert the batteries. A little reading instruction saves frustration.
I agree

Thanks for your suggestions . I got the one that fit our needs. If I got the one with the alarm, and it went off while I was at work one night, not only would DH throw it against the wall, he wouldn't do anything about the temperature fluctuation anyway. So, I have to trust that all things will work.

Our old AcuRite temp monitor is still going strong, but I felt that we needed something with a temperature alarm. I really wanted something that would send the alert to my iPhone. So after some research, I decided to purchase the AcuRite Environment System. I felt the price was reasonable, the tech support is USA based, and the reviews were excellent.

It was super easy to setup (took me 20 mins). I set up an online account and downloaded the app to my iPhone. Last night I stayed up until the RMH fire died down enough for the temp to go below 55F and the alerts immediately texted and emailed me. I will feel better about going to the game tonight (temps are hovering in the 30s today).

Does anyone have one like this?
I like the text alerts. Would sleep better on these chilly greenhouse nights.
