Growing Mint in Small Packets

I noticed that a mint runner had been caught up in neighbouring foil packets where I was growing extra Gerberas. The one that was in it had grown so well, surpassing the other mint plants in the small patch, so this is what I did.

Dinu, have you tried using tea leaves or coffee grounds (used ones) in your water trays to prevent mosquitoes? Evidently the mosquito larvae are not tolerant of the caffeine in those leftovers.

I sprinkle my coffee grounds around my garden any place there might be standing water, and especially make sure the cups of the bromeliads have some in there. My husband drinks lots of coffee, so I always have plenty.

Elaine, thanks a lot for this valuable clue. I collect the coffee and tea left overs and add it to my kitchen compost pile. Now this is a good idea. What I have been doing is to change the water that collect in the trays once in about a week or so.
