Welcome! Kate. I am glad you made the move and you will be too! Thumbs up

It is warming up nicely now. This afternoon I am going to see about removing that 'Kodama' from its mount and labeling your plants for Monday's shipment.

As an aside - my MacBook Pro seems to be dead, it exhibits "black screen". I was able to get it going a couple more times, but today it could not be started up. That means I am right now using my iPad Air only and to post links with that one is a bit of a pain, have to become more proficient doing that. That's why I didn't post a link......sorry!
So, thanks Jim! Smiling

Maybe.
You know, except for that link posting, I am not sure if I replace it. I have to see how it goes, that IPad is a really nice little machine. I can always attach my camera to Klaus' IMac and and use that one whenever I need a full fledged Mac. The good thing is that I regularly made backups of all my pictures through the years and especially lately I saved a lot of stuff.

I use Carbonite as my backup. I feel safe but have never really needed it.

IF someone uses one of the expanded rock materials, that would probably be the ultimate "little moisture" form of growing orchids. You might as well mount them if that rock material is all you want to use. I do use expanded rock (two forms/two sizes) but it is only perhaps 20% of my orchid mix.

Ursula, if you know how to take the battery out, try this:

Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

It's a battery reset; this might work. Very simple thing to try. You'll need a teenie weenie screwdriver to take out the battery (on bottom of computer)

Thanks Kate. I actually did something similar, after removing the battery I started it up in safe mode/ holding down the shift key down while pressing the power button. That worked quite nicely several times. I took it to Apple Store today, it is beyond repair since it is too old/ not supported any longer. (2006)
Connecting it via fire wire to the iMac and starting it up by pressing T and power button, I should be able to see the hard drive on the IMac with all the files, if I ever need to look. The computer starts up, I just can't use the screen, since it stays black.

Looks like you've got it covered! Isn't it amazing how something made in 2006 could be so antiquated ??
