I photographed this awesome opuntia at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Does anyone know which species it is? I'd like to add it to the database.

I think it is Cochineal Cactus (Opuntia cochenillifera) , but this is way outside my area so take that for what it's worth. Smiling

I think you're right. I just read a number of pages about Nopalea cochenillifera and it fits perfectly. Thank you!

They probably planted it when they built the park which was in 1998. I'd guess it was already a good size when they planted it.
